The Comics Journal has published a short interview with El Topo director Alejandro Jodorowsky, concentrating (for a refreshing change) on his lengthy and fascinating career in the field of comic books. On these shores, his work in this field has been largely overlooked, but he has produced masterpiece after masterpiece, including The Incal, The Metabarons, Technopriests, Son of the Gun, and Madwoman of the Sacred Heart. The American branch of Humanoids Publishing has been recently reborn, ushering his graphic novels back into print, some in lavish collector’s volumes. This week sees the release of Bouncer: The One-Armed Gunlinger, continuing Jodorowsky’s saga set in a very R-rated Wild West. You can read the broken-English interview, in which he declares “Kill superheroes! Tell your own dreams!” HERE.
